Armur:
Dr. Goli Srinivas, a village doctor from Wadi village in Velpur mandal, has earned special recognition for providing medical services during the Independence Day celebrations held at the Red Fort in New Delhi. Overcoming physical disability with determination, he has emerged as an inspiration to many.
Born into a poor family in a rural area, Dr. Srinivas was affected by polio at the age of two, which resulted in a disability in his right leg. Despite this, his unwavering self-confidence and perseverance helped him rise to great heights.
He completed his schooling up to Class 10 at the Social Welfare Gurukul School in Armur town and his intermediate education at Uppalwai Gurukul School. He later completed his medical education in 2006 from Chalmeda Anand Rao Medical College, Karimnagar. During 2013–14, he served at AIIMS, New Delhi, and in 2015 at Safdarjung Hospital. In the 2015 UPSC selection, he was chosen for the CMC batch and was allotted the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) cadre.
Earlier, during the 2023–24 Republic Day celebrations held at Kartavya Path (Rajpath), Dr. Srinivas provided medical services to the President, Prime Minister, Indian Armed Forces personnel, police staff, and parade participants. He also voluntarily led the medical team during the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in 2022–23. Additionally, he rendered voluntary medical services for three years during physical tests conducted for Indian Forest Service cadre candidates.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Srinivas worked tirelessly without letting his disability come in the way and organized special medical camps for sanitation workers. In recognition of his services, he received several awards from the Central Government as well as the governments of Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.
“A Matter of Pride”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Goli Srinivas said it was a matter of pride for him to lead a medical team providing services to dignitaries such as the President and Prime Minister in the national capital, despite coming from a rural background. He emphasized that this achievement was not his alone, but the result of the support and cooperation of many people.
For the past several years, Dr. Goli Srinivas has been voluntarily providing medical services at the Red Fort and Kartavya Path during Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, demonstrating his strong sense of service and dedication.
